About Us

I'm Te-Anna Alain — founder, director, and educator behind Bright Steps.

I've spent over a decade in early childhood education, including operating Divine Care Academy, a licensed child care program in Keswick. Across those years, I've worked with hundreds of children — and I noticed something that wouldn't leave me alone.

Some kids don't thrive in busy preschools. They get overwhelmed. They melt down at drop-off. They get sent home with notes from educators who mean well but aren't trained for them. The parents of these kids carry shame they don't deserve, while their children carry sensory exhaustion they can't yet name.

Bright Steps Academy is the program I always wished existed for these families.

Small. Calm. Sensory-aware. Designed for sensitive kids 2-7 who do their best learning in environments built around how their nervous systems actually work.

We open September 2026 in Barrie. We're currently accepting our founding cohort — limited to 16 children.

If your family is looking for something a little quieter, a little smaller, a little kinder — we'd love to meet you.
